I grew up on the North Shore and attended Westlake Boys High School before heading off to the University at Otago where I graduated with a law degree in 1979. I have been practising law for over 40 years, firstly in Wellington and then back to Auckland where I became a partner in one of the large inner city law firms for 10 years or so. After a two-year stint in London with a major multi-national law firm I decided to change direction and in 1999 I took over Jeremy Dillon’s practice in Orewa.

I have had a strong connection to the Hibiscus Coast from my childhood where I spent many long summer days on Orewa beach. My mother lived in Orewa for several years. Above all else, what I have enjoyed most about being a lawyer in Orewa, Silverdale and the greater Hibiscus Coast area is the clients I have met and had the pleasure of acting for.

I am very fortunate to have been able to work for so many interesting and loyal clients over the past 25 years on the Hibiscus Coast. I have worked predominantly in the areas of property law, commercial law and trusts and I have been involved with many large and complex business and property transactions. I try to focus on solutions and I like to think I am pragmatic in navigating through issues and problems to achieve results.

I am very excited about the future of North Harbour Law as I become slightly less active in the firm on a day-to-day basis. I hope that my experience can add some value, but I can honestly say that in my opinion our three younger directors are as talented and able as you will find anywhere in New Zealand and we are all supported by an amazing group of lawyers, legal executives and administration staff.
